POCKETS WARHOL

Pockets Warhol is a 31 year old Capuchin Monkey who has been painting for enrichment for the last 12 years with his muse Charmaine Quinn who saw a similarity to Andy Warhol after his arrival to Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Canada. His paintings are sold to help support the 26 monkeys at the sanctuary as well as helping to raise funds for charities around the world. Pockets has been in the news over the last 12 years including a piece in the Toronto Star comparing his art to that of famous abstract expressionist Joan Mitchell.

Sir Brian May & the Save Me Trust, Jerrod Blandino owner of Too Faced Cosmetics, Ricky Gervais & Jane Fallon, Dame Jane Goodall, RuPaul drag queens winners Bianca Del Rio & Trixie Mattel, Greg Scarnici, Producer of Saturday Night Live, Dame Joanna Lumley, singer Jann Arden, Anne Innis Dagg – The Woman Who Loves Giraffes, Birute Galdikas, orangutan pioneer & Leakey Angel, Downton Abby actor Peter Egan, Kevin Hearn of Bare Naked Ladies, famous bonobo Kanzi, etc are all owners of Pockets Warhols’ art. Pockets was recognized by the Andy Warhol Museum and has participated in a study at the University of Strasbourg on animal art as well as the University of Utrecht. Pockets has been recognized by Margaret Atwood with his portrait of this iconic woman & has been part of a fundraiser with a guitar signed by Ricky Gervais as a gift to Pockets. Pockets has also been the focus of a CBC short documentary ‘Portrait of Pockets’.

Pockets has been involved in many collaboration projects with well-known artists, as well as celebrity fans such as Henry Rollins, Brent Roe, Scott Cameron, Anita Kunz, etc. A unique painting by Pockets of Ricky Gervais’ cat Pickle was auctioned in collaboration with Ricky Gervais to raise funds for the rescue center of Feline Friends UK which sold for $5,600.00. Pockets has also donated his paintings to animal charities such as All Dogs Matter UK, Husky Rescue, Tripawds, Last Hope Animal rescue UK, Frankie & Andy Senior dog rescue, etc.

Pockets has also participated in charity auctions of his painting collaboration with Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go’s, who has several of his paintings, supporting Animal People Alliance based in Thailand and India.
Pockets was honoured and excited this year to donate a painting to Animal Activist and actor Peter Egan of Downton Abbey and Afterlife.

Recently, Pockets’ art was used on the cover of a new solo album, The Third Chimpanzee by Martin Gore of Depeche Mode and on the cover of the remix album that was released in July 2022. He captured hearts in Rolling Stone, Billboard, MOJO, Variety Magazines, etc and his art was front and centre in the Martin Gore music videos.

Pockets has completed a portrait for The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada of elderly Donkey da Vinci & currently working on a project with famous Canadian Painter John F. Marok, a recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal & will be part of a collaboration with Los Angeles based artist Daniel Newman which will be exhibited in the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts in 2024. Pockets has raised over $200,000.00 in painting sales, fundraisers and art exhibits.
