BELLE

"Liberty" Belle O'Neill was born in the spring of 2017, with a celebrated birthday of April 1, 2017. When she was about 12 weeks old, she arrived at the Lawrence Humane Society in Lawrence, KS, where she was adopted on July 8, 2017. When her new parents first took Belle into a play area at the humane society, she jumped up in her mum, Li’s, lap, wiggled, and licked her face. Belle was an adorable puppy, filled with curiosity and exuberance for life. She loved to carry around shoes, slippers, sticks, and anything else fun she found.

As she grew out of puppyhood, her family noticed that her eyes looked a little unique. When they asked her vet about it, they said that Belle was likely stuck in the birth canal, and as a result the muscles on her head grew a little farther back. Her muscles around her head are a little underdeveloped, but everything is there. Because of this, her face often looks "surprised."

When Belle was 5, Li was trying to sell a mirror on Facebook Marketplace. Belle was by her side and kept photobombing the pictures. She ended up posting the mirror with Belle in the photos, not realizing that Belle's social media fame was about to go viral. Within a few days, someone put out a TikTok of finding the post on FBMP, which went viral, and a few social media accounts for Belle were launched.

Belle has some hilarious and unusual talents, such as howling when she hears a siren. Her ears perk up, she starts to howl back, and does a perfect little spin as she responds to the siren. She has also continued her love of shoes and slippers as she has grown up, and often carries one or two around wherever she goes.
As Belle has gained a following on social media, and has received countless messages from fans mentioning how much she brightens their day or makes them smile. She's truly a wonderful dog and her family are honoured to be able to share insights into her life with the world.
