ANH
We don't know much about Anh other than she is housed in a large civet coffee tourist attraction alongside chained elephants, caged gibbons, and about 200 other civets (mostly common palm civets and about six other binturong)- each housed alone or in breeding pairs at a location in Vietnam.
Anh is housed on her own, and it appears that she had suffered an injury to one of her eyes; as most civets are captured from the wild it is possible that the injury was sustained during capture or transport. She is housed for the production of civet coffee, in an enclosure no larger than a small dog kennel. With only one elevated shelf to rest on, Anh is forced to spend all her time on this one platform or else walk on bare concrete flooring littered with her own urine that was hosed down from the outside. Like many civet coffee producing civets, Anh does not have access to the most basic of environmental needs and her diet consists mostly of coffee. It is highly likely that Anh spends her days highly caffeinated, nauseous, and in pain from the lack of nutrition and high doses of coffee.
Whilst it is more common for the smaller common palm civets to be used for civet coffee production, binturong are prized for their larger size- meaning they can eat more and produce more. Anh has been inducted into the Hall to represent all civets and binturongs who suffer human exploitation and to raise awareness of their plight.
